The Cross of Sacrifice Memorial Plaza
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"
After years of planning, we are about to commence work on the much-anticipated Cross of Sacrifice Memorial Plaza.
The tender has been let and work is due to commence shortly, with the official opening scheduled for November 2018. An artist’s impression of the completed Plaza in the photo gallery below shows the significant difference that this project will make to the engagement of St Peter’s Eastern Hill with the wider community.
The completed plaza will provide an attractive and accessible place for reflection and prayer around our beautiful Cross of Sacrifice Memorial. Importantly, it will also provide a viable social enterprise venture in conjunction with the Lazarus Centre. A mobile cart located in the Plaza during the day will provide coffee, tea and light snacks, with profits flowing to the Lazarus Centre, enhancing its sustainability and enabling improvement in our services to the homeless.
This venture will also enable us to provide training opportunities to suitable Lazarus Centre clients, thereby opening up future employment opportunities.
